I bet you’ve asked yourself more than once what is your purpose in life. Am I wrong? I also believe you’ve tried one of many recipes available out there on how to find your purpose in life, but I guess this is not about following a recipe.
Purpose means “the reason for which something is done or created or for which something exists.” When I think about finding a purpose in life the first thing that comes to my mind is something big, extraordinary, profitable and successful. Something that will bring joy and happiness to my life. However, this a controversial thought because it makes me feel useless and not capable of achieving such a thing.
The purpose is “the reason for which something is done or created or exists”. Therefore, everybody’s purpose is to be happy. We were created to be happy and we exist to evolve and to learn how to be happy – it is indeed an extraordinary thing, but it has to come from inside.
Again we need to go back to the basics. The simplicity of the basics sometimes can make us feel confused and lost, but we are responsible for everything that happens to us without exception. So it is our responsibility and solely our responsibility to be happy or I should say to learn how to be happy, but first, we need to know ourselves. We need to observe and invest in us, but how? That’s the thing, this is not a recipe but I believe is the way I understand the process.
First of all, we must believe and accept that we are learners of divine laws and teachings and like everything you study in life, practice will make you excel it. We need to be humble and put ourselves in a comfortable position because like every student, we are going to make mistakes and that’s completely fine. After all, we have the whole eternity to succeed.
Once you put yourself in a learner position you will automatically find out what exactly you need to focus on by observing your thoughts, feelings, your behaviour in everyday life, because life is happening right now. So that’s why it’s so important to live in the present moment.
Buddha brings us enlightenment on how we should handle the most simple tasks in life, like peeling an orange.
” If you eat an orange in forgetfulness, caught in your anxiety and sorrow, the orange is not really there. But if you bring your mind and body together to produce true presence, you can see that the orange is a miracle. Peel the orange. Smell the fruit. See the orange blossoms in the orange, and the rain and the sun that have gone through the orange blossoms”https://www.lionsroar.com/the-moment-is-perfect/
So back to my point about the basics, and I hope now it illustrates better what I was trying to say earlier, everything that happens to us and every person that crosses our path is a divine opportunity to get to know ourselves, to evolve and to move forward towards happiness. The real happiness that lives within each one of us, the one that will bring joy and inner peace.
I wish you all a beautiful and interesting journey- right now is the right moment! Stay safe 🙂
